Create and Take Parties with Chalk Couture

You took the leap and signed up as a Chalk Couture Designer! Now what?!

If you're like me, you're on information OVERLOAD!!! Between joining all the facebook groups, watching the training videos, learning about the products, and trying to understand that tricky compensation chart you feel like you're just spinning in circles! Don't worry, I'm here to help you!

The very first thing you should do is of course order some supplies to get you started on having your first make and take party! Make and take parties are trendy and HOT right now! I own a studio where this is literally ALL WE DO! So trust me on this one!!

Let's get into some logistics about how we create a party and the supplies you'll need.

When you sign up as a designer you'll get a one time use 50% off coupon (this is really an extra 10% off you're already awesome 40% off). This is a fantastic time to stock up on your supplies to hit the ground running with your first party!

My first suggestion is doing a friends and family party! This is a great chance to get your feet wet, work out any kinks, and get a feel for party flow!

The first thing to do is reach out to your friends and family of course!! Now, I know you're probably freaked out and you don't want to sound "salesy" to people, but that's just something you need to get over!! You're purely trying to get them out and enjoy a fun night out and this isn't your mama's tupperware party ok?! (sorry tupperware, you know I love you!) This is more of an entertainment type party, they aren't coming over to flip through a catalog. They're getting something they can take home and really enjoy. Plus they are getting a few hours with their girlfriends. The best thing to do is post something on your social media like Who wants to comes to a chalkboard workshop?! You'll get to create your own unique decor piece, enjoy a night out and have a blast!!" You may have to show people what it is, post a few picture to get some interest and then they'll be booking!

You can either have everyone pay the day of, or you can have people pay ahead of time. You can use a system like paypal, or square to invoice them ahead of time. Both are very safe and very easy to use. You can also set up an event on facebook too and that way people can join in!

Now that you have gotten a few people to agree to come let's get your supplies together!

I suggest a chalk paste in most colors. Red, pink, orange, Green, Teal, Aqua, Blue, Yellow, Purple, gray, white, black. Here are just a few colors I love!

This is a good place to start. You don't have to go crazy and get one of every color, less options is better to start! People get very overwhelmed with all the color choices!

The next thing you'll need to do is thing about the surfaces you want to chalk. Of course, I always suggest chalk couture chalkboards, however I know it's a little expensive to start up. Our unframed magentic chalkboards are all a great value. When you order through Chalk Couture, you're also getting your Personal Volume in, as well as adding up those orders to earn designer dollars!

Here are a few chalkboards you could use. Our 12x12, Mini bracket, Large round.

Now for transfers, Since we're working with our medium size boards boards, you'll want to stick with any transfers that are size medium and under. Here are a few suggestions for you. There are all within the 12x12 size range. The laundry comes with multiple designs but all fit on most small boards. So you're getting a lot of transfers for one price. Don't forget you can cut and combine transfers together! I like to order a few decorative elements, like the boho flowers, or combine elements from the chore chart with the arrows to give people so extra designs they can use.

Now for the party!

Now, you just set up everyone's spot! I like to leave all my transfers out for them to pick from. I also like to, set the chalkboard, squeegee, paper towels and some chalk paste out for everyone. When they come in you'll have them pick a seat and then you'll get started! A good idea is to pass out a small transfer, like a small heart, snowflake, or even a letter and let them practice first. This gets them a chance to see how to apply the paste, how much they really need, and get a feel for how to work with the transfers before they move on to the larger project.

Always remind them "ITS JUST CHALK!" That it will wash off! Any mistakes are easily cleaned up and not to stress!! We also seem to get some who are very OCD and just can't handle it! I just like to keep issue gentle reminders!

Then relax and let everyone go to town chalking!

It's really fun and a great way to get friends together and let your creativity shine!!

Happy Chalking!!

Sarah
